Explain

Procedures for operating machines, hardware and so on.

No single, universal definition of the notion of algorithm exists. Turing machines, lambda calculus, state automata TrackingItem(WD-C13)etc. have all been proposed as formal definitions, and it has been proven that they are equivalent in the sense that it is possible to express the same objects and statements within the language of each formalism. Such a collection of statements operating on objects is called an algorithm.
